Seven steps to earn by lending Tron energy

You lend energy that is already staked on a wallet you control. Renters pay TRX. When the rental ends and the energy is back, that TRX is added to your gasrent balance.

1. Use a wallet you control

TronLink in this browser is the simple path. You can also paste an address and sign on another device. The wallet must have one owner key. A multisig owner cannot approve here.

2. Hold two kinds of TRX

Stake a large amount for energy. That energy is what renters borrow. Leave at least 100 TRX liquid, not staked. The liquid TRX pays the network fee for the permission update. Staked TRX does not pay that fee.

3. Stake for energy

In the wallet, stake TRX for Energy, not Bandwidth. Stake 2.0 is what the network reads. Bandwidth stake is not lent here. Energy you already delegated to someone else is not free to lend.

4. Connect the wallet

On Supply, press Connect TronLink. That uses the address already open in the extension, so you do not type it. Paste the address only if you will approve on another device. One address belongs to one gasrent account.

5. Approve one permission

Press Approve and sign once. TronLink adds an active permission named gasrent. That permission can delegate energy and take it back, vote for witnesses, and start a withdrawal of the voting reward. The reward always lands on your own wallet. It cannot send TRX or USDT. Your owner key stays yours. The signature spends a little of the liquid TRX as the network fee.

If you sign on another device, add that same permission there. Then come back and press Check permission.

6. Check the chain

Check permission reads the account. It does not sign. When the permission is on the chain, the wallet can lend and the page shows how much energy is free. If the permission is missing, or the liquid TRX is under 100, the page says so. Nothing is lent until both are in place.

7. Earn, pause, or stop

While the wallet is lending, it can fill rentals. Pause stops new ones. Rentals already out still return, and you are paid when the energy is back. Remove the permission only after those rentals are back. That signature removes only the gasrent permission.

8. Voting rewards

The same permission lets us vote your staking power. We split it between the three witnesses that pay voters the most, and we check once a day. The reward builds up on your wallet. Press Claim on Supply, or claim it in TronLink or Tronscan. It always goes to your own wallet. We count it either way and show it in your transactions.

8. Voting and rewards

Staked TRX can also earn by voting, and the same stake keeps lending energy. If you approve the permission with voting, gasrent votes for you and shows the reward on the Supply page. Read Two ways to earn on staked TRX and What gasrent does automatically for your wallet, and why.
