Rent TRON bandwidth
TRON bandwidth pays for the size of a transaction. A USDT TRC-20 transfer without a note needs 345 points. An active address gets free bandwidth every day, enough for about one such transfer. After that, the network burns TRX for the bytes at the current network fee. gasrent rents bandwidth from 5 minutes to 7 days.
What TRON bandwidth is
Bandwidth pays for the bytes of a signed transaction. Energy pays for running a contract. USDT is a contract, so a transfer spends both, and the two balances do not stand in for each other. Renting energy does not fill bandwidth. Energy and bandwidth are not the same fee.
How much bandwidth a USDT transfer needs
A USDT TRC-20 transfer without a note needs 345 bandwidth points. The token amount does not change that size. A note does: it adds bytes, so the point count goes up. The energy check returns required_bandwidth for the sender and recipient you name. Use that number for the transfer in front of you, and use 345 when there is no note.
Free bandwidth and when it runs out
An active address gets a free bandwidth allowance every day. On mainnet it has long been about 600 points, and the live value is whatever the account resource call returns. The allowance refills over 24 hours. One USDT transfer without a note fits in it. The next USDT transfer that day does not, unless bandwidth has been delegated as well. A plain TRX transfer is about 270 points, less than a USDT transfer. After one USDT transfer the free allowance left that day is below 270 as well, so it does not cover a TRX transfer either.
The pools are not added together
Free bandwidth and delegated bandwidth are separate pools. The transfer is paid by whichever pool can cover it entirely. If neither can, the network burns TRX for the bytes. Delegating 100 points onto an address that still has 300 free points does not make 400. Neither pool holds 345, so the USDT transfer burns TRX anyway.
Rent enough that the delegated pool alone covers every transfer you will send while the rental lasts. For one USDT transfer without a note that is at least 345 points. For several transfers in the same window, multiply. The free allowance is not a top-up for a shortfall in the rented pool.
Durations and sizes
Bandwidth rentals last 5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, 3 days, or 7 days. There is no 15-minute bandwidth rental. Energy is the other way around: 15 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, and 3 days, and not 7 days. How long an energy rental should last does not pick a bandwidth duration.
An order is from 1 to 100,000 points. A supplier can still refuse a size below its own minimum, or a size that is not one of its packs. With exact volume left off, a larger pack may come back when that pack costs no more than burning the points you asked for. It is never smaller. Exact duration works the same way: a longer duration is eligible, a shorter one is not. Burn is the network fee for those points once. It is not multiplied by how many days you rent.
The price is quoted when you order, in the cabinet or from POST /api/v1/bandwidth/quote. The table on /price is energy, not bandwidth. Compare the bandwidth quote with burning the same points at the current network fee, and take the rental only when it costs less.
Energy and bandwidth together
Order them separately, onto the same sending address, from the same TRX balance. A USDT transfer needs the energy for the contract and the bandwidth for the bytes. 65,000 energy covers one transfer to a recipient that already holds USDT. 131,000 covers a recipient with no USDT. 345 bandwidth points cover that transfer when it has no note. How much energy the transfer wanted is the energy half. Check both before you sign.
Rent bandwidth by API
The same key and the same TRX balance as energy. Bandwidth orders are a separate list: an energy order id is not a bandwidth order id. The call does not activate the address. If the address is not activated and no supplier accepts it, the response is 503 unavailable and the balance is not charged. An order is Filled when the chain shows a delegation of at least 98% of the volume. Webhooks are bandwidth.filled and bandwidth.cancelled.
POST /api/v1/bandwidth/quote
X-API-KEY: YOUR_API_KEY
Content-Type: application/json
{"volume":345,"duration":"1h"}
The quote does not charge and does not delegate. POST /api/v1/bandwidth places the order. GET /api/v1/bandwidth lists orders, and GET /api/v1/bandwidth/{order_id} reads one. Fields, errors, and the exact-volume rules are in the API reference. The key in the example is a placeholder.
What a bandwidth order does not do
It does not activate the address. A new address still needs activation before it can send, and that is a different order. How activation works. It does not delegate energy. It does not make the free daily allowance larger. When the rental ends, unused delegated points are gone.

FAQ
How much bandwidth does a USDT TRC-20 transfer need?
345 points when the transfer has no note. A note makes the transaction larger. The energy check reports required_bandwidth for the transfer in front of you.
How much free bandwidth do I get?
An active address receives free bandwidth every day. On mainnet that allowance has long been about 600 points, and the live value is whatever the network returns. It refills over 24 hours, which is about one USDT transfer without a note. A second USDT transfer the same day is past that allowance.
Why did I burn TRX for bandwidth when I had some left?
The free pool and the delegated pool are not added together. If the address has 300 free points and 100 delegated points, neither pool covers 345, and the network burns TRX for the bytes. Rent enough that the delegated pool alone covers the whole transfer.
Can I rent bandwidth for 15 minutes?
No. The shortest bandwidth rental is 5 minutes. After that the durations are 1 hour, 1 day, 3 days, and 7 days.
Can I rent energy for 7 days too?
No. Energy rentals run from 15 minutes to 3 days. 7 days is available for bandwidth only.
Does renting bandwidth activate my address?
No. A bandwidth order does not activate the address and does not delegate energy. If the address is not activated and no supplier accepts it, the call returns 503 unavailable and the balance is not charged.
How do I pay?
From the same TRX balance as an energy rental. Top up in TRX, or top up USDT and exchange it to TRX in the cabinet. The exchange fee is charged in TRX.
